Film Soc Posters

Posters contributed by Sian John. Who adds....

They were all designed by Nic Saunders (see below). These were some of our most succesful films, particularly Silence of the Lambs where we had twice the amount of people permitted in the LLT and made £30 on 10p refunds from Newcastle Brown bottles at the end of the night. We had fun showing films to all the very drunk people at all the balls. Particularly at the Ball in 1992 where we accidentally missed the middle reel from a film thereby cutting out most of the story, and no-one noticed!

Nic Saunders recently stumbled across the been2nene site and tells us... 'I was involved in the Film Society in my second and third years at the college. It was a great time - the sunday night film was always packed. It was a real community event - I have vivid memories of cutting and pasting the posters in the SU office and then spending 3 or 4 hours sticking them up in every Hall kitchen and every bit of free wall I could find. The most memorable films we showed were 'The Krays' where everyone came dressed in suits and dark glasses and 'Rocky Horror' where the whole audience came dressed up and threw rice at the screen and sang along.'
